live long and prosper

I saw the new/old Star Trek tonight, and it's every bit as great as you've heard, greater even.  We have interesting characters, consistent with the ones we know and love, but fresh, a new plot, again, consistent with the world we knew (humans, Vulcans, Romulans, etc) but updated, and we have great special effects which were not totally opposed to the laws of physics as we know them.  Overall a great effort.

The series has definitely lived long and prospered.

Quick updates after a busy busy day...

Here's a rather weird headline: Obama slashes Chrysler's advertising budget.  This is not good, people.  Not good at all.  This is not change I can believe in.

WSJ: The Obama administration's behavior in the Chrysler bankruptcy is a profound challenge to the rule of law.

What life might look like on Jupiter's Europa: new extreme species discovered.  Does not look like Vulcans, Klingons, or Romulans...

Danilo DeLuca won stage 4 of the Giro today, the first "mountain" stage, in which the GC contenders were sorted for the first time.  This left Astana with Yaroslav Popovich, Levi Leipheimer, and Lance Armstrong with three of the top six positions, all within 0:28 of the lead.  More sorting in another mountain stage tomorrow...  Stay tuned!
